On September 27-28, 2014, NBC Connecticut sponsored the Hartford Health and Wellness Expo in the Hartford Convention Center. It is estimated that close to 20,000 people took part in this event!
Charlotte’s Litter, along with Pet Partners, cooperated in putting up a display and fielding a team of volunteers to meet and greet folks who came by the booth. The primary purpose was to help build awareness of the value and use of Therapy Dogs, especially in school settings.
We want to say thanks to our friends from Pet Partners and R.E.A.D, who brought their therapy dogs, and made our display so popular for the children and adults who visited the booth. Pictured in the photo are Joel and JoAnn Bacon with dog handler, Sandy, and her Therapy Dog, Josie. Josie helps children in school settings with their reading skills.
Reading enhancement is one of the many contributions that Therapy Dogs can make at a school. To learn more about how Therapy Dogs can be incorporated into your school setting, read the “Bringing Therapy Dogs to Your School” article in the Educators section of the Charlotte’s Litter website.
